For a plain colour story
- Open the story camera and choose Create mode.
- Tap the colour circle to cycle through backgrounds.
Behind a photo or shared post
- Add your photo or shared post to a story.
- Tap the draw (pen) tool.
- Choose a colour.
- Tap and hold anywhere on the screen for a few seconds.
- The whole screen fills with that colour. Use the eraser to reveal parts if needed.
Use the eyedropper
In the draw tool, tap the eyedropper to pick a colour from your image.
Gradient backgrounds
Instagram may auto-pick a gradient matching your photo. Tap the photo to resize and see it.
