Too many notifications are distracting; too few and you miss important messages. Here is how to get the balance right.
Open notification settings
Profile → menu → Notifications.
What you can control
- Pause all for up to 8 hours
- Posts, stories and comments: likes, comments, tags
- Following and followers: new followers, follow requests
- Messages: message requests, group chats
- Live and Reels: Lives from people you follow
- Quiet Mode: scheduled quiet times
Get notified when someone posts
Open their profile, tap the bell icon and choose posts, stories, Reels or Live.
Tips for creators
- Keep comment and DM notifications on so you reply fast
- Turn off like notifications to reduce noise
- Use Quiet Mode at night. See Quiet Mode
