Instagram limits many actions to stop spam. Knowing them helps you avoid action blocks.
Content limits
- Caption: up to 2,200 characters.
- Hashtags: up to 30 per post.
- Mentions: up to 20 per post.
- Bio: 150 characters.
- Carousel: up to 20 photos or videos.
- Reels: length limits change over time; check the camera for current maximum.
Action limits
Instagram does not publish exact numbers for follows, likes or comments per hour or day. Limits depend on account age and behaviour. New accounts have lower limits. Read follow limits.
Signs you hit a limit
- “Try again later” messages
- Actions not saving
- Temporary blocks on following or commenting
How to avoid blocks
- Do not follow or like in fast bursts.
- Avoid copy-paste comments.
- Remove third-party automation apps.
- Warm up new accounts slowly.

Pause the action for 24–48 hours, check Account Status and report a problem if you think it is a mistake.
