Being tagged in a photo you do not like is annoying. Instagram lets you hide tagged photos from your profile, remove yourself from tags and control who can tag you.
Hide a tagged photo from your profile
- Open your profile and tap the Tagged tab (the person icon).
- Open the photo you want to hide.
- Tap the three dots and choose Tag options or Hide from my profile.
- Choose Hide from my profile.
The photo stays on the other person’s profile, but no longer appears on your Tagged tab.
Remove yourself from a tag
In the same menu, tap Remove me from post. Your name will no longer be linked to the photo.
Approve tags before they appear
- Go to Settings and activity → Tags and mentions.
- Turn on Manually approve tags.
Now tagged photos only show on your profile after you approve them.
Control who can tag you
Under Tags and mentions, choose whether Everyone, People you follow or No one can tag you.
Why this matters for brands and creators
Your Tagged tab is a kind of public portfolio. Customers and brands look at it. Keep it clean by approving tags and featuring genuine customer photos you like.
If someone keeps tagging you
