Many people watch Reels with the sound off. Captions keep them watching and make your content accessible.
Option 1: Instagram’s captions sticker or auto captions
- Record or upload your Reel.
- Tap Edit or the text/sticker options.
- Choose Captions (or the CC option, depending on your app version).
- Instagram generates captions from your speech.
- Tap the text to fix mistakes and change the style or colour.
Auto captions work best with clear speech and little background noise.
Option 2: Add text manually
Use the Aa text tool to type key lines and set when each appears on the timeline. This is ideal for hooks, steps and lists.
Option 3: Use an editing app
CapCut, InShot and similar apps can auto-caption in English and Hindi and offer more styles. Export and upload to Instagram. Remove any watermark first.
Caption style tips
- Keep text inside the safe area, away from the bottom where the caption and buttons sit.
- Use high contrast: white text with a dark outline or background.
- Show 3–6 words at a time.
- Highlight key words in a brand colour.
