Instagram limits following to stop spam bots.
Total following limit
Instagram has long capped the total number of accounts you can follow at 7,500.
Daily and hourly limits
Instagram does not publish exact numbers. Limits depend on account age, history and behaviour. New accounts have much lower limits. Following hundreds of accounts in a short time is likely to trigger a block.
Signs you hit the limit
- “Try again later” messages
- Follows not saving
- Temporary action block
How to avoid problems
- Follow gradually throughout the day
- Do not follow and unfollow the same accounts repeatedly
- Avoid automation apps
- Warm up new accounts slowly
Why following is not a growth strategy
Following thousands for follow-backs brings low-quality followers. See follow for follow.
ViralSocialUp never follows accounts from your profile, so your limits are never touched. Read Instagram limits.
