Instagram does not notify you when someone blocks you, but there are clear signs.
Signs you may be blocked
- Their profile does not appear in search
- Their profile shows “No posts yet” and zero followers when opened from a link
- You cannot follow them
- Old comments and likes from them have disappeared
- DMs show their name but no profile picture
How to confirm
Search for them from another account or a logged-out browser. If the profile appears there but not on your account, you are blocked.
Other possibilities
- They deactivated or deleted their account
- They changed their username
- They restricted you (you can still see their profile)
- Their account was removed by Instagram
