Want a fresh start? Instagram does not have an “unfollow all” button, so you need to do it gradually.
Unfollow in the app
- Go to your profile and tap Following.
- Use the categories Least interacted with and Most shown in feed to decide.
- Tap Following next to an account to unfollow.
Stay within limits
Unfollowing hundreds of accounts quickly can trigger an action block. Unfollow in small batches, for example 50–100 per session with breaks, and spread over days.
Avoid mass-unfollow apps
They need your password and perform automated actions, which Instagram does not allow. See Instagram automated behaviour.
Alternatives
- Mute accounts you do not want to unfollow.
- Create a new account if you want a completely fresh start.
After cleaning up
Follow accounts that inspire you or are in your niche. A cleaner ratio also makes your profile look better.
