Need a break? Deactivating hides your account without deleting anything.
How to deactivate
- Go to Accounts Center in settings.
- Tap Personal details → Account ownership and control.
- Tap Deactivation or deletion.
- Choose your Instagram account and select Deactivate account.
- Pick a reason, re-enter your password and confirm.
What happens
- Your profile, posts, comments and likes are hidden.
- People cannot find you in search.
- Nothing is deleted.
How to come back
Log in again with your username and password. Your account is restored.
Limits
Instagram may limit how often you can deactivate, for example once a week.
