Both tools limit unwanted interactions, but they work very differently.
Restrict
- Their new comments on your posts are visible only to them unless you approve
- Their messages go to message requests
- They cannot see when you are online or have read their messages
- They are not notified, and they can still see your posts
Best for: people you want distance from without drama, such as a classmate or colleague.
Block
- They cannot find your profile, posts or stories
- They cannot message you
- Their likes and comments are removed
- You can also block new accounts they may create
- They are not notified, but they may notice
Best for: harassment, spam, scams or anyone you want fully cut off.
How to restrict or block
Open their profile, tap the three dots and choose Restrict or Block.

- Mute: stop seeing their posts without them knowing
- Remove follower: they stop following you
