Changing your password regularly, and immediately after any suspicious activity, keeps your account safe.
Change your password in the app
- Go to Settings → Accounts Center.
- Tap Password and security → Change password.
- Choose your Instagram account.
- Enter your current password and the new one twice.
- Tap Change password.
Reset a forgotten password
- On the login screen, tap Forgot password?
- Enter your username, email or phone.
- Follow the link or code sent to you.
Make a strong password
- At least 12 characters
- Mix of words, numbers and symbols
- Not used on any other site
- Not your name, birthday or phone number
A password manager makes this easy.
Also turn on two-factor authentication
Accounts Center → Password and security → Two-factor authentication. An authenticator app is safer than SMS.
